How to setup L2TP VPN on Windows Vista

Right click on Lan / Wi-Fi icon from System tray and click on Network and Sharing Center.

Choose Set up a connection or network.

In appeared window select Connect to a workplace and click Next.

Select Use my Internet connection (VPN).

Insert the following settings:

• Internet address - address of VPN-server to connect for. Click here to get the list of servers
• Destination name - any desired name for connection, for example SecureVPN

Check item Don't connect now and click Next.

Insert accounting data:

• Username - username
• Password - password

Check item Remember this password and click Create.

Important Note: your VPN username & password is placed in file readme.txt (was sent to your email after ordering the subscription).

Click Close.

Click on Manage network connections.

Right-click on just created VPN-connection and select Properties.

On Networking tab set Type of VPN - L2TP IPsec VPN, uncheck items Internet Protocol version 6 and File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks, then click IPsec Settings.

Set preshared key - a-secure-psk and click OK.

To establish VPN connection click on Start->Connect to, select created connection and click Connect.

Click Connect in appeared window.

VPN connection will be established in few seconds.

To break VPN connection click on Start->Connect to, select created connection and click Disconnect.

If you need change address of VPN server - open properties of VPN connection (repeat steps 8-9), click on General tab and set new address of VPN server, then click OK.
